Google's new XR glasses:

Recently, Google unveiled its new “Google XR Glasses” lineup to the public, which operates on the Android XR operating system and integrates the Gemini artificial intelligence. The model was developed in collaboration with Samsung and Qualcomm, using the Snapdragon AR1+ platform, which enables real-time operation of small language models (up to one billion parameters) without needing a mobile phone or constant internet connection.

The glasses don’t differ in appearance from regular ones — featuring lightweight frames and comfortable lenses, which nevertheless house high-resolution displays. The main features of the glasses include:

․ Real-time translation from multiple languages,
․ Step-by-step navigation with Google Maps,
․ Recognition of complex objects (e.g., books, photos/videos, flowers),
․ Voice control powered by Gemini.

The first phase of wholesale distribution is scheduled for late 2025, with Samsung as the manufacturer within the framework of the Project Moohan partnership.

In fact, the global production of these and similar glasses marks the beginning of liberating our weary, overburdened hands from smartphones, offering the opportunity to replace smartphone dependency with new, more organic interfaces.
This will transform the nature of travel, remote work, education, and medical consultation — from physiotherapy to live-streamed surgical procedures.
